Samenvatting

This study describes the impact of a localization service for GPS based tolling systems. Theoretical results will be compared with recorded tracks using an open platform, in the given case the Advanced Telematics Platformof mm-lab. As the right evaluation of the exact position is required for road tolling, the localization service is the essential element for makinga toll charging decision. A short introduction into the architecture of the localization service is given. To allow a comprehensible classificationwithin the Advance Telematics Platform (ATP), the system architecture andthe preparation of the geographical data is described first. A more detailed description of the localization service is given, before entering intosome concepts based on geographical objects types supported by the localization service. Theoretical results are compared with real data collected in different trials around the globe. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
