Samenvatting

The vehicle signals are similar to those used with standard traffic lights. The pedestrian signal consists of an indicator showing WAIT (or red light) and CROSS (or green light). After the button is pushed there is a certain actuation time ta before the start of the green period (of length tg). A certain blocking time tb must at least elapse before the next green period. The pedestrians are assumed to arrive according to a Poisson process. The probability law of the lengths of successive red periods is given as well as the distribution of the waiting time of a pedestrian and that the number of pedestrians crossing during a green period.
