This paper presents the findings of a light rail traffic safety study performed for the Howard Street Corridor in the City of Baltimore, Maryland (USA) from the intersection of I-95/Howard Street at Conway Street to the intersection of Mount Royal Avenue at Dolphin Street. The scope of this study consists of a 1.90-mile section on Howard Street including seventeen (17) signalized intersections. The primary objective of this study is to examine the effectiveness of various traffic control devices and positive guidance measures to minimize the number and severity of accidents involving light rail, buses, pedestrians and other vehicular traffic.
