Samenvatting
The design philosophy behind the Netherlands' bicycle facilities manual is dealt with. The three principles on which this design is based are mentioned. It is pointed out that the basis for bicycle facilities must be formed by a good plan of which the phases are described here. As regards the design of bicycle facilities, the starting point and a number of possibilities for improving the safety and comfort of cyclists are given.
