Samenvatting

This report discusses the usage of advanced data reduction techniques to process vehicle crash data. These techniques are illustrated by the analysis of deceleration data from nine flat barrier impacts at 30 mph and one head-on collision at 30 mph. The value of these data reduction methods to assist in the solution of various crash safety problems is discussed. Also, performance characteristics of instrumentation systems for the acquisition of crash data are investigated. Such factors are bandwidth, signal to noise ratio and transducer mounting location are discussed.
