Samenvatting

An attempt has been made to quantify the concept of mobility. The research was conducted using data from the 1980 nation-wide OVG survey in the Netherlands. Sixteen measures of household mobility were calculated from trip diary information. Included were measures such as daily travel time per person by various modes, trips per household per day for various purposes, and percentages of household members travelling for various purposes. These measures were then summarized in a set of statistically independent dimensions using principal components analysis.
