Samenvatting

Various research methods and models of investigation for demand in public transport are reviewed. An extension is presented of an existing French model to determine the various effects on demand (generation and distribution) from a change in the freight rate. Further a charging according to marginal cost and value of time involved has also been examined. The conclusion presents a survey of the effects on demand by the elasticity of price and time, and cross elasticity between modes of transport, plus the effects of various traffic charges and measures. Directions for future research and experiments are indicated.
