Samenvatting
The need for arrow markings on pavements is discussed and experiments are described. The experiments sought to obtain shapes, presented in the fronto-parallel plane, that were recognised in minimum time and were judged to be appropriate in normal road environments in which guidance markings may be expected to be used. Some aspects of the use of arrows, such as number required, spacing and lay-out are discussed.
