Samenvatting

A new automotive LED lamp was developed which is characterized in having a plurality of reflecting surfaces placed around a single LED to increase the effective use of luminous flux, thereby realizing a lamp of a large light-emitting surface with a small depth. Using this technique, it will be possible to design any of various types of automotive signal lamp (tail lamp, stop lamp, or turn signal lamp) that functions satisfactorily by using a relatively small number of LEDs. To give an example, it is considered possible to develop an LED automotive combination tail-stop lamp which could meet the European photometric requirements using only three LEDs.
