Distraction imposed by an In-Vehicle Information System (IVIS) is dependent on the visual demand of the task, resumability of the task, and driver behaviour. Occlusion is a relatively new measurement method that assesses visual demand and resumability. A study was developed to investigate gaps in occlusion research including; training type, number of repetitions during testing and sample size. The results showed 5 training sessions would be required for IVIS tasks. For IVIS tasks investigated a sample size of 14 subjects would be appropriate, however a smaller sample (10 participants) could be used ad the number of test sessions (5) increased.
