Samenvatting

This paper describes the application of a dynamic systems model to the general problem of automobile accident prevention, treatment and control. The paper describes the development of a Dynamo simulation model to describe the accident prevention, treatment and control system. In the development and description of this model, assumptions about the nature of the system are specified and several hypothetical runs of the model are described. The specific applications of the model deal with the cost and benefit of modification in speed limits and the mandatory use of seat belts and air bags. The consequences of such systems changes are noted and discussed. Implications for future research of this type are suggested.
