Samenvatting

The Association of Electronic Technology for Automobile Traffic and Driving (JSK) has developed a concrete draft standard communication interface specification for use between onboard terminals and service providers at the application level. Validation tests, including field tests, have also been conducted. This application interface is intended to support the provision of three types of information to drivers, specifically, map information, point-of-interest (POI) information and route information. If this draft standard application interface is adopted, onboard equipment will be unified, enabling users to select any onboard device and to access multiple services with a single onboard unit. Moreover, it will also facilitate the use of the rich variety of information content available on the Internet and make it easier to launch information service businesses, among other expected benefits. This paper presents an overview of the development of this draft standard application interface.
