A mechanistic-empirical methodology was applied to the procedurefor considering the effects of drainage in the new aashto guide pavement structural design process. The procedure considers the level of moisture exposure as well as the quality of drainage. Development of both rigid and flexible pavement models is covered. In addition, some of the general considerations associated with moisture effects and various drainage and subdrainage systems are discussed. Finally, recommendations are provided for future work to improve the methodology.
