Samenvatting

The analysis of accidents shows that frontal collisions between trucks and passenger cars are of great importance due to their severeness. This is caused by the relatively high collision speed and the incompatibility between trucks and cars with respect to mass, shape and stiffness. Therefore often the car underruns the truck and is intruded by the truck fender, because the car cannot activate its safety structure. If truck and car furthermore are tangled up within the collision, the car is dragged along after the collision and the truck loses its steerability. (A)
