The lane marker system capable of detecting the lateral position of a vehicle in a lane is essential for assisting lane keeping or prevention of out-of-lane driving. This lane marker system operates by means of electromagnetic wave. The report made in the ITS World Conference 2000 in Turin described the system to deliver good performance as a lane marker capable of interacting during high speed cruising. The new method proposed in this article includes information provision using phase difference and is added to the last year's system. In addition to the lateral position detection in a lane, a single system can provide lane borderline information and base point information. Cold weather experiments proved no effect of low temperature, snow accumulation or deicing materials and confirmed good functional performance equivalent to that in a warm climate.
