Samenvatting

Two types of pavement were developed that control the rise of surface temperature to improve thermal conditions in walking areas. One is "the water-retaining pavement" and the other is "the heat-shielding pavement". This paper outlines the two types of pavement and describes the surface temperature rise control mechanisms of the pavements. The paper reports the effects of these types of pavement on the control of surface temperature rise that were confirmed in a laboratory test and on an actual road.
