Samenvatting

The normal behaviour of children interacting with traffic is studied and this behaviour is compared between categories of pedestrians who are differentially at risk, where risk is defined as accidents divided by exposure. Three studies of children and adults crossing busy roads are described. There appears to be a mismatch between the information children receive from others and what they gain from their own experience when crossing the road.
