The development of road restraint systems (RRS) with increasing containment levels according to the EN 1317.

The new EU specification EN 1317 for safety barriers concentrates on the following concepts: performance classes, vehicle impact test criteria, containment levels, impact severity levels and levels of working width. This paper very briefly presents the specification and its implications. Following this it focuses on the safety fence product family of the company Volkmann & Rossbach.
