Samenvatting

In preparation for AHS (advanced highway system) proving tests, a road-to-vehicle communication protocol was developed which is both compatible with the conventional DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) standard, for example ETC (Electronic Toll Collection), and allows easy application development. Taking newly developed Layer 1 of the OSI hierarchical model, development focused on Layer 2 in order to make Layer 7 compatible with conventional DSRC. In addition, the communication applications needed for AHS services were also developed. The developed protocol has a movement management function to achieve consecutive channel allocation and continuous communication within zones, and its functionality is being verified in proving tests as a prototype for realisation.
