Samenvatting

The paper describes a development of the antilock brake system (ABS) and brake force distribution control presently under development at the Helsinki University of Technology. The system consists of a general purpose microcomputer, a multifunction I/O card, a high pressure hydraulic pump-accumulator unit, and four pressure sensors, four angular speed sensors, four solenoid valve blocks installed at each wheel. Brake force distribution control can be optimised with this system design. Other functions that the system will perform include simulation of pedal feeling, and study of brake response to certain failure modes by disabling individual wheels. The system can be used both for research work, and for educational purposes.
