The development of travel time optimized estimation system for ITS and SCM.

In recent years, Japanese social infrastructure like Road Communication systems such as Infrared Beacon and UHF Beacon are being increasingly set up based on Intelligent Transport systems (ITS). Meanwhile, Supply Chain Management (SCM) in the manufacture and circulation industries is paying greater attention towards efficient ways of doing business. An integrated solution for such a system is proposed, where a SCM works in tandem with ITS. This SCM-ITS solution has been verified and found to be of practical use. The SCM-ITS System has its characteristic subsystem called Optimised Travel Time Estimation system. The subsystem provides a precise estimation of travel time by using the actual travel time that can be obtained from a Mobile Operation Control System such as MOCS. The functioning of the proposed system and actual proof of optimised estimations for a set of test cases are described.
