Samenvatting

In order to realize optimal dynamic route guidance and prediction of arrival time, we have developed the Three-Range Composite Prediction Method, which can predict future travel time. This method consists of three prediction models and a combining process for them. The three models have been developed aiming both to characterize the dynamics of traffic flow and regular patterns of traffic demand, which enable us to predict traffic conditions both in the immediate future and further in the future. The combining process calculates future travel time by combining the three outputs using weight coefficients that are determined taking into account differences in area, route, and time range.
