A development of truck rear end underride protection. Paper presented at the SAE Meeting held November 10-13, 1980.

Research was carried out to the design of an underride guard which will give protection in most underride accidents. The research resulted in the energy absorbing "Underrider". The paper discusses in some detail how this development can help to improve the present situation.
