Samenvatting
In September 1994 the Department of Transport commissioned a report on the research required to support and promote the further development of urban traffic control (UTC) systems in the UK. This paper reports on the results of this work. Aspects examined included a) UTMC system requirements, b) system structure requirements, c) system component requirements and d) current research and future research needs. Details are given of the framework for research drawn up. A development approach, based on a series of 3-year development rounds is proposed. 24 projects are classified into 4 groups according to priority. Details of the projects are listed.
