Samenvatting

The two primary purpose for initiating this effort were to provide insight into the physical mechanism of head injury rather than the physiological phenomena, and to determine tolerance levels for accelerations to primate heads. In potting the subject's head in a relatively rigid helmet and then applying the acceleration to the helmet, the variation in structural properties of the skulls of the different subjects is eliminated from the experiment. Also, this setup results in maximum endurance to acceleration. This last statement is based entirely on intuition.
