Samenvatting

Following on from its comprehensive Motorway Tolling Trials in 1996/7, the Department for Transport (DfT) embarked upon a further programme of research to investigate a complete pilot road charging system. This encompassed the issue and fitting of On-Board Units (OBUs) in volunteers' vehicles through to the delivery of dummy monthly invoices and dummy Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs). The one-year operational phase of the programme was completed at the end of March 2006 and the preliminary lessons from this processare presented from the DfT's perspective. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
