Samenvatting

A framework for estimating the demand for gasoline that is derived from disaggregated vehicle holdings and usage decisions, is developed. The model considers three decisions made by the household vehicle holdings, mode to work, and non-work vehicle usage, where the choices made are the outcome of a utility maximization problem. From these choices of vehicle type and desired usage, fuel consumption by the household is derived.
