Samenvatting

There is a growing interest in the application of discrete/ continuous models in the field of transportation. Models both of discrete and continuous endogenous variables have been produced, linked to form a joint choice framework. The discrete choice may be mode of travel, car ownership, or car type; the continuous choice may be full parking price, travel expenditure, activity duration, or annual car mileage. The discrete/ continuous models thus cover the decision on mode choice in connection with the full parking price, or the joint household decision on the number of cars and the mileage in these cars. The paper gives a short description of model formulation, foundation in economic theory, estimation and of some recent applications. See also C 804.
