Samenvatting

In this report the concept of `dissociation' is discussed with reference to the classification of drivers and as a contributory or even causal factor in traffic accidents. Examples of actual driving behaviour are given where drivers showing dissociative patterns of behaviour have carried out unnecessary manoeuvres, taken risks and had near-accidents. Possible future lines of research in this area are indicated. (Author/publisher)
