Samenvatting
The estimation of the direct costs of the present arrangements for distributing aggregates by road in Great Britain, analysed by the region in which journeys start is discussed. It is indicated that the costs would increase by about 60% following a doubling in the lengths of journeys but would reduce by about 27% if the productive utilization of the vehicles were to be raised from the current level of 58 to 83%.
