The main purpose of the present study was to compare the sedative effects, both acute and subchronic, of cetirizine 10 mg q.d. with those of terfenadine 60 mg b.i.d., terfenadine 120 mg q.d., triprolidine 5 mg b.i.d. (the active control) and placebo, on driving performance in a standard over- the- road test. Cetirizine 10 mg did not significantly impair the subjects'ability to control the vehicle's lateral position in the over- the- road test, both after single oral dose and multiple daily doses.
