Drinking and driving : in search of solutions to an international problem.

The dramatic decline in drinking-driving fatalities experienced by many countries during the 1980's appear to be leveling off. The international traffic safety community is pooling its research efforts and exchanging ideas on prevention, deterrence, and interventions. A recent target is the "hardcore" drinking-driver who seems undeterred by standard measures. Random breath testing and licensing actions have proved to be aming the most succesful deterrent tools.
