In this report the following studies are presented: (1) the role of alcohol in north carolina motorcycle crashes. In this study three sets of comparisons are made, between: (a) police reports of alcohol involvement in fatal motorcycle crashes and medical examiner findings; (b) alcohol-related (a/r) motorcycle crashes and a/r passenger car crashes; and (c) a/r motorcycle crashes and non-a/r motorcycle crashes. (2) children as victims of alcohol-related crashes. This study examines child passenger injury by alcohol involvement while controlling separately for restraint use, crash speed and seating position. (3) an examination of the effect of liquor-by-the-drink on traffic safety in north carolina. This is a preliminary analysis of the effect of liquor-by-the-drink on traffic safety.
