Samenvatting

In this study passengers in the right front seat acting as drivers and pedestrians made estimates at the same time. Besides position (driver or pedestrian), speed level light (day or night), sex and age of the subjects were varied. Results indicate pedestrians can obtain enough cues of a vehicle's speed to make essentially as accurate an estimate of speed and changes in speed as could the driver at relatively short vehicle-pedestrian separation distances.
