Samenvatting

This issue of Current Topics includes c90 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the identification and measurement of unsafe driving behaviour, measures to encourage safe driving practice, and ways in which drivers tend to adapt their behaviour in relation to safety measures. Amongst the unsafe driving behaviours identified are aggressive driving, speeding, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, close-following, driving under attention-distracting conditions, such as stress or when using mobile telephones. Abstracts are included on the influence of driver experience, age, mood, attitude, attitude to risk taking, driving style, etc, as well as the measurement of eye movements, and effect of enforcement and publicity campaigns. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1995 and 1997. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database.
