Samenvatting

Problems and changes in driver education are discussed. No suitable criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of formal driver education, nor clear research methods and statistical methods of control have been developed. It has already been established that no improvement in accident rate has resulted. Accident frequency is ruled out as a criterion. Some alternatives for future research are indicated. Priority must be given to basic task analysis to improve current training.
