Samenvatting
Improvement in crash protection for racing car drivers requires coordinated effort by car designers, sanctioning bodies and race organizers. Driver head and leg protection appear to offer the most potential for injury reduction in racing crashes. The "Driver Protection Capsule" proposed in this paper is one possible approach to achieving reasonable levels of driver protection.
