Samenvatting

This issue of Current Topics includes over 65 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the development and measurement of, influences on and training for, the awareness of risk in novice, experienced and expert drivers. Specific behaviours considered include gap acceptance, speeding, use of mobile phones, non-use of seat belts, the effects of age, individual attitudes, risk compensation etc. Some abstracts are included on countermeasures, such as the use of simulation in driver training, driver retaining and the introduction of hazard perception tests. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2001 and 2005. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. The first edition, Current Topics in Transport CT 123 (see C 10579 S), covered abstracts of articles added to the database from 1991-1997. The previous edition, Current Topics in Transport CT 123.1 (see C 15676 S), covered abstracts of articles added to the database from 1998-2000.
