Samenvatting

This issue of Current Topics includes over 60 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the development and measurement of, and influences on and training for the awareness of risk in novice, experienced and expert drivers. Specific behaviours considered include speeding, use of mobile phones, non-use of seat belts, the effects of age, individual attitudes etc. Some abstracts are included on countermeasures, such as the use of simulation in driver training, driver retraining and the introduction of hazard perception tests. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2005 and 2009. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. For the previous editions, see Current Topics in Transport CT 123 (C 10579 S), Current Topics in Transport CT 123.1 (C 15676 S), and Current Topics in Transport CT 123.2 (C 35402 S).
