This study explores the experiences of 30 learner drivers and drivers with Cerebral Palsy (CP) before and during driving tuition. In particular the possibility of predicting driving ability for individuals with CP is considered. It also investigates other people's attitudes towards an individual with CP starting driving tuition. The results showed that this group was met by encouragement on the part of driving instructors and that even severe physical difficulties could be overcome sufficiently to be able to safely drive a car. It was also found that for those who were eligible to work, being able to drive enabled them to find employment.
