This paper presents the results of an experiment which correlates fluctuations in driver EEG measurements with simultaneous changes in vehicle speed and steering wheel movements. The aim is to find a method to automatically monitor driver attention, in order to ALERT the driver if he is in danger of falling asleep at the wheel. Twelve healthy subjects drove on a motorway for six hours, during which time their EEG and EOG were continuously monitored. Steering wheel movements and vehicle speed were also monitored. A video camera also recorded each driver's behaviour. One of these cameras recorded drivers' visual expression.
