Samenvatting

A radar system for private cars developed for airport vehicles which are able to operate blind in a fog is described. The system called AVOID (Airfield Vehicle Obstacle Indication Device), is able to detect objects at distances of a few feet by using a frequency-modulated signal and a stationary antennae. The image presented is a direct representation of the scene ahead of the driver and is projected on a T V picture tube in the cab of the vehicle. The system worked very effectively during trials.
