This paper reports a study to analyse some self-reported risky driving habits and their relationship to Type A behaviour pattern (impatience, competitiveness, aggressiveness and hostility) in university students. It has to be noted that the sample subjects did not have extreme scores in the Type A behaviour study. Driving habits evaluated were frequency of imprudent behaviour, of speeding, of seat belt use and of driving after drinking alcohol. Few subjects reported imprudent behaviour and the most common examples, speeding and non-use of seat belts, are seen as perhaps more socially acceptable. Association of Type A behaviour pattern with imprudent driving behaviour was not consistent in this study. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
