Name of 915 persons hospitalised for suicide gestures in the years 1963, 1964, and 1965, were obtained from the records of King Country Hospital, Seattle, Washington. Of this group 438 persons had a valid Washington State driver license. The records of these drivers were compared with the 687, 228 driving records persons living in King County. The suicide gesture group had a statistically higher accident rate, 81 % higher, and violation rate, 146 % higher, than the rate for a Comparable group of King County drivers. Fewer of the drivers in the study group had records clear of both accidents and violations.
