Samenvatting

The Dublin Bus Company is a subsidiary of the CIE National Transport Group in the Republic of Ireland. It operates city urban type services, the Dublin City Tour service and services to the coast and airport. The Dublin Transport Initiative pioneered the concept of a total network of Quality Bus corridors, reducing journey times and achieving a big modal shift from car to bus. Dublin Bus has a direct feedback system from customers through daily continuous monitoring of all aspects of the company by professional assessors and by customer panels. An initiative called Quality Customer Awareness (QCA) was implemented to improve training and customer service. The Dublin Bus Equality Programme was initiated in 2001, enabling an Equality and Diversity Action Plan to be developed. A counselling service was also set up for employees. Other developments include a mobile phone timetable service called BUSTEXT, a flexible ticketing strategy, a new trunk radio system, a new bus depot, and initiatives in the local community to increase awareness of the bus service.
