This paper describes a methodic problem approach which can be helpful while searching for possibilities for a more sustainable develoment of mobility. It is specifically done by using the facility structures of passenger transport and their effects on the living with traffic in the Randstad. With the help of a causal model it starts with an analysis of the existing facilities related to passenger transport and their effects on living with traffic. Thereafter, four land use scenarios for the Randstad in 2015 are developed with various assumptions concerning urbanisation principles and population growth. On the basis of model estimations these scenarios are analysed for the living with traffic effects of their matching passenger transport system.
