Samenvatting
By means of publications such as the 'Brundtland report', and 'Care for tomorrow' by the Dutch government, the time has been ripe for the notion 'sustainable policy'. In this article, attention is paid to 'sustainability' in the context of traffic and transport. It is concluded that sustainable mobility has to be seen as a matter of mentality of designers and users of traffic systems. It is important that at this moment actions have to be undertaken in the Netherlands to achieve an equilibrium between economic and societal activities in relationship to environment.
