Samenvatting

This paper describes a modelling approach for the real-time estimation and prediction of origin-destination matrices per time slice for a freeway network. The estimation model is based on the interaction between a dynamic assignment model (DTA) and an Origin-Destination (OD) matrix estimation method which combines historical information with traffic counts measured in real time inside the road network and at on/off ramps. The OD prediction model is based on a filtering approach combining historical and estimated OD information with predicted inflows at the motorway ramps. The described approach is embedded in the prediction framework of the DRIVE II project named DYNA, where it represents the short term prediction module (15 to 60 minutes ahead). (A)
