Samenvatting

Traffic impact assessment determines whether the road network surrounding new, proposed development can cope with additional travel demand while adjacent junctions perform at acceptable levels of service. This paper is presented with particular attention to the traffic impact created as a result of the proposed development in the new town centre of Bandar Baru Bangi. The prime purpose of the assessment is to evaluate future traffic flow along the affected roads and junctions for the year 2010 without further progress in order to identify the suitable remedy of linkage points from the current major road to the proposed growth areas. The overall results indicated that the ever-increasing number of vehicles from year to year would directly affect the levels of service. Road widening and the upgrading of the type of intersection control system however would help in decreasing the traffic problems.
