Samenvatting

In the last decade, whilst considerable attention has been focused on EBusiness technology, little research has been conducted into how the "real-worth" of implementation of such technology can be successfully evaluated. Based upon a review of the current literature and a series of interviews held with Railway Operators, Track Managers and Transportation Customers from the Australian Fortune 100, the author puts forward a provisional framework for the evaluation of EBusiness investments within the Railway Industry. The model uses fuzzy logic rules created and built from data gathered from the respondents in the survey and current literature case studies. It is shown that in addition to considering quantitative criteria in the assessment, EBusiness evaluation should encompass a multi-dimensional framework comprising of internal, external and architectural specifics.
